The Commission was established to gather information and to make recommendations to the Lithuanian Parliament and Government about possible assistance from the government of the United States, also from U.S. non-profit organizatins and other institutions.
The Commission has since expanded its scope of interest. The 2006-09 LAC members of the Commission A week of meetings of the Lithuanian Parliament/World Lithuanian Community Commission took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, December 11-15.
