Proclamation

Use this sample Proclamation in your state:

WHEREAS, the Republic of Lithuania is a free, democratic and independent nation with a long and proud history; and

WHEREAS, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is dedicated to the preservation of freedom and security of its member nations; and

WHEREAS, the Republic of Lithuania desires to share in both the benefits and obligations of NATO in pursuing the development, growth, and promotion of democratic institutions and a free market economy; and

WHEREAS, Lithuania recognizes its responsibilities as a democratic nation and wishes to exercise such responsibilities in concert with members of NATO; and

WHEREAS, this date, February 16,2001 marks the 83rd anniversary of Lithuania’s independence, the 748th year of Lithuania’s statehood and the 11th year of Lithuania’s reestablishment of independence;

THEREFORE, I, ----, Governor of the State of --------, support THE ADMISSION TO THE NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION OF LITHUANIA AND SUCH OTHER EUROPEAN DEMOCRACIES THAT MAY MEET THE CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO NATO.
